10 Laws of Persuasion – Law of Power

Differentiating yourself from others by learning the law of Power

Have you heard of the famous Spider man quote “With great power comes great responsibility”‎? It did apply to our daily life because some people have power over the others to a certain degree that they are being perceived as holding greater authority, strength or expertise in contrast to others. This is called the law of power, which is one of the law of persuasion.

Power comes with charisma and authority that has the capability to change. For example, if you are a salesman and presented yourself confidently in front of the customer, they will perceive you as more powerful and your chance of closing the deal is increased.

Power is something that exists within you and you must bring it out to be successful.

Once people have the perception that you have the capabilities, caring for others, knowledge and confidence, their level of confidence with you will increase.

Have you encountered people who like to abuse power and use power over people? But instead, we should use power with people to win them over and win deals. By using power with people, you are being perceived with someone that has great inner self that is called “Charisma” and people love this kind of person. Power over people is normally resented and people are mostly likely irritated by this action as it seems like you are trying to control them.

Let’s take car mechanics as an example, they may not have a high recognition value for power, but when you car breaks down and need repair, they will become the most powerful people in the world because they have the ultimate solution to your problem.

Don’t you agree?

In summary, do not gain power through forceful authority, instead gain power through authenticity and charisma within you.
