This book is filled with valuable information, but the set up is extremely poor. If you look at the table of contents you’ll see the title names and page numbers along with “sub-chapters” pertinent to specific topics. THE PROBLEM is that there are no page numbers given for any of the many “sub-chapters”, making it very difficult to find what you are looking for. As I said above though, this book does contain useful information, especially on the topic of eviction. I recommend buying this as a SUPPLEMENT to THE NEW YORK LANDLORD’S LAW BOOK, by Mary Ann Hallenborg.
Rating: 3 / 5
While it isn’t a substitute for a good lawyer reviewing your contracts, it is a great reference so you understand the contract, understand your rights and obligations as a landlord, and can tell when your lawyer is just handing you a boilerplate contract they bought off of NOLO themselves. Possibly it covers a bit too much of things specific to New York City and not the entire state, but overall it is excellent and easy to read.
